A Personal Note from the team

What’s the story?

As winter holds on, now is the perfect time to start planning before the spring rush.

Greetings Neighbors, Friends, and Valued Clients,

We hope you’re staying warm through this late-winter deep freeze! It’s hard to believe we’re already well into 2025—time flies. Though the cold might still have its grip on us, before we know it, spring will arrive, and we’ll be dusting off our bicycles and swimsuits.

In the last issue we discussed the opportunity to make a “dream list” for your house. What would you like your space to look and feel like? What is the message you want your space to convey to your friends and families as they spend time together with you? If a remodel is on your mind, now is the perfect time to reach out before everyone else thaws out and gets the ball rolling.

We spend a considerable time planning because the more we plan, the easier the construction phase will go. Here is a (very condensed) breakdown in what’s involved:

  • First Consultation: This involves meeting, discussing project goals, and high level budget discussions. Preliminary design comes next with measuring and initial budgeting, which can take a couple of weeks.
  • Budget Review and Revisions: We present a preliminary scope of work with budget, and plans. Revisions are made to plans and costs as until we land on a project everybody is excited about. At this point a walkthrough is organized with trade partners and estimates for their work is collected.
  • Bidding and Proposal: We present a final design and walk through cost, and if agreed upon, we begin the process of writing the contract. Writing up the contract takes time too, as we ensure every detail is accurate and reflective of the client’s decisions.
Second floor addition in progress!

As much as we’d love to fast-track every project, we follow this well-honed process and it takes time. We encourage early conversations to set realistic timelines. By understanding what goes into planning and design, the process becomes less overwhelming—and far more rewarding.

At the cabin, winter in northern WI.

On a personal note, I was able to sneak away for a few days and go skiing with my dad and brother a couple of weeks ago and we had a blast. This trip includes some other remodelers from across the country, and it is always good to get their input on how things are going, new and cool ideas/methods, and of course some high-level planning on how to make the world a better place.

I hope this season brings a chance to reset and look ahead to an exciting year—perhaps one that includes a home transformation!

Until next time,

John, Marc, and The Team
