Our Services

From bungalows and Tudors to American Foursquares, we remodel kitchens, baths, basements, additions, and more throughout the Minneapolis–St. Paul area.

KITCHEN REMODELING

Reimagining Kitchens Built for Another Time. Older kitchens often feel small and cut off. We open them up, add storage, and create layouts that finally make cooking and gathering easy.

Kitchen Design & Remodeling

BATHROOM REMODELING

Updating Small, Outdated Bathrooms. Tiny bathrooms with no storage are common here. We rework them into functional, comfortable spaces that feel like a retreat.

Bathroom Design & Remodeling

BASEMENT REMODELING

Transforming Dark, Unused Basements. Dark, damp basements waste valuable square footage. We transform them into bright, livable areas for family, work, or play.

Basement Design & Remodeling

ADDITIONS & EXPANSIONS

Smart Expansions for Growing Needs. When more room is the only answer, we design additions that blend with your home’s style while giving you the space you need.

Our Work

Minneapolis is known for its charming neighborhoods, tree-lined streets, and beautiful older homes. Whether it’s a Tudor in Tangletown, a bungalow in Fulton, or a family home near Lake Harriet, remodeling here requires a careful balance of preservation and modernization.

Two-Story Addition Brings New Life

A traditional FourSquare home expanded for more living space and improved flow.

Kitchen-Dining Room Connection

A once-divided kitchen and dining room now feel open, bright, and connected.

From Porch to Living Space in Tangletown

An unused porch became a welcoming extension of the kitchen—perfect for gatherings.

Reconfigured Layout on the Main Floor

In Cedar-Isles-Dean, we reimagined the main floor for better flow, function, and everyday living.

Tangletown Second-Story Bungalow

An unfinished upper level became a light-filled retreat with peace and privacy.

From Interrupted to Private Oasis

This new owner’s suite features a spa-inspired bath with a soaking tub, walk-in shower, and bold blues.

Highly recommended! We had a complicated project and the whole staff at Sylvestre proved to be steady companions and thoughtful problem solvers as the inevitable issues arose during our five-month long renovation. They listened to us carefully but also provided great guidance during moments when we weren't sure what to do. We are delighted with the final results!

A Dream Home Renovation Experience with Sylvestre Remodeling and Design

I rarely write reviews, but our experience with Sylvestre Remodeling and Design was so exceptional that I had to share. After hearing countless renovation horror stories from friends and family, our project with Sylvestre was refreshingly flawless from start to finish.

The Project
We bought a 100-year-old craftsman home in South Minneapolis and needed to expand by finishing our attic into a livable second floor. Our goal was to make it look like the upstairs had always been there, maintaining the historical integrity of our home while accommodating our growing family and work-from-home needs.
Outstanding Team

- Harvey guided us through the entire project, visiting multiple times to consult on architectural design and adapt plans when our budget changed. His flexibility and expertise were invaluable.
- Jason, our project manager, provided brilliant layout suggestions that maximized our space. His attention to detail and constant communication kept everything running smoothly.
- Marc Sylvestre personally visited several times to ensure construction was proceeding correctly and addressed our concerns about budget and timeline. He truly cared about our comfort, even taking extra steps to insulate our baby's room before removing the roof during Minnesota's winter.
- Zack and Les, the carpenters, became like family with their incredible craftsmanship. They treated our home as their own, cleaned meticulously after each day, and created woodwork that neighbors with carpentry skills have specifically praised.

Why Choose Sylvestre

- On time and on budget - Rare for home renovations!
- Exceptional quality - Masterful craftsmanship throughout
- Thoughtful communication - Always kept informed about schedules and changes
- Respect for our circumstances - They accommodated our work-from-home needs and infant's comfort
- Problem-solving expertise - Every challenge was handled with skill and foresight

We're already planning our next home improvement projects with Sylvestre. If you want professionals who are skilled, trustworthy, and will treat your project with the care it deserves, look no further than this hometown crew. They transformed our vision into reality with an attention to detail that exceeded our expectations.

See pictures: Blue, before. Red, after. I still have some painting to finish upstairs!

We had a large brick and stone fireplace with a three sided wood burning fireplace that the previous owner's remodel had in the kitchen. It was not functional or repairable, but we lived with it for years to accomadate the wood burning insert in the basement. We finally decided we needed the space and to get rid of the old unusable fireplace. Sylvestre Remodeling and their crew did a fantastic job, starting with a tricky chimney demolition to ensuring the new custom cabinets matched what was currently in the kitchen from a prior remodel. Would definitely use Sylvestre again!

Working with Sylvestre’s was an incredible experience any way you slice it! As with any project things can go wrong and they sure did with us. But what sets this company apart is how they handled everything. Our contractor, Marc, did an excellent job making sure everything was done right no matter how many times it took nor how long. He continually said “I want you to be happy!” And we are. Our bathroom is beautiful!!! Despite the setbacks and problems that happened we would not hesitate to use this company again.
